Search tips

  • Entering more than one word is treated as a phrase search. You may choose how searches combining several search boxes will be processed by setting AND, OR and NOT Boolean operators. These are resolved from top to bottom, eg. "thailand" OR "cambodia" AND "buddhist" is resolved as ("thailand" OR "cambodia") AND "buddhist".
  • You can use wildcards such as * and ? to replace one or more characters in the search term, e.g. "orient*" will find records which contain "oriental" or "orientalist".
  • By combining filters you can further limit your browse, e.g. if you want to browse only records containing materials from Japan, where the subjects include economics, you might select two filters: "country=Japan" and "subjects=economics".
